Bio| HISTORY |
Robert Phillip grew up in New York and, rather than the idyllic meadows and treehouses of his lady love, finds his comfort in brick, glass and steel. Born and bred in Manhattan, it was a natural progression from his parents' apartment on Fifth Avenue to college (NYU) and then law school (Columbia, obviously). Wanting to keep up with the lifestyle he was used to and the comfort zone he needed, Robert decided to go into divorce litigation. Depressing, sure, but it made sure that he and his new wife would have plenty to start out with. Things went well for a while and soon Robert and his wife had a beautiful baby girl, Morgan, and everythingwas just like a fairy tale. Except fairy tales don't really come true. In a turn of events that Robert never speaks of, his wife and Morgan's mother decided to leave one day with little to no warning. Brokenhearted and unsure of his footing, he strove to be the best father he could without sacrificing the job that may have cost his marriage. Things went well enough for a while, well enough that he met and dated Nancy Tremaine, a fashion designer, but for obvious reasons Robert was deathly afraid of pulling the trigger. Flash forward five years and to one very lost and very confused princess. Giselle, princess of Andalasia, dropped into Robert's lap literally and sent his carefully-controlled life into a tailspin. Struggling to balance a career, a woman and one idealistic princess, Robert eventually realized that his life was missing a whole lot of magic. Apprehensive about Giselle's naivete and general enthusiasm about love (even after only one day), Robert eventually falls under her spell and saves her from death by poison with true love's kiss. And so they live happily ever after…but only if Robert learns to slow down. He enters Hearts and Minds after the close of the movie Enchanted. |
| PERSONALITY |
Robert Phillip is career minded and completely focused, so much so that he is almost afraid of taking a leap of faith and doing something spontaneous. While this is normally an admirable trait (stability is always good when searching out jobs or raising a family) Robert is just a little too practical for his own good. Another hallmark characteristic of Robert Phillip is just how much he loves his daughter, Morgan. While his job and Nancy are important to him, Morgan is the center of Robert's universe. She reminds him of his former wife and causes him to be a little shy around her, but he loves her more than anything. Robert wants to make sure that Morgan never gets her heart broken by an impossible dream and, as such, tries to instill in her a sense of practical that six year olds just aren't that willing to go along with. This is only compounded by Giselle, whose entire life is one big storybook. To Robert, Giselle's free-wheeling sense of wonder is something dangerous and altogether unpredictable. On a side note, Robert's practicality only extends to his relationships with people. When it comes to his own home, he has a bit of an absent-minded professor quality in that he rarely cleans and forgets that things like laundry have to be done more than once a year. He also tends to get wrapped up in his job, so much so that the toll of being a divorce lawyer has affected his ability to see true love where it does actually exist. Frightened and neurotic, Robert goes through life trying to dot every "I" and cross every "T," if only to not get burned in the future. |
